BRITAIN should be made a ‘less attractive place’ in order to curb EU mirgration according to a Ribble Valley councillor.

Coun Ken Hind, who represents Longridge on the borough council, has said that welfare, housing, healthcare and education benefits ‘should be more difficult to obtain’.

Coun Hind was speaking after UKIP came top of the national poll in the recent European Elections for the first time.

He said: “The answer to the UKIP challenge cannot be more of the same from the main political parties.

“The first issue is immigration, where the main problem is migration from EU countries, where the only solution for UKIP is a to vote to leave.

“What happens to the million EU nationals in the country is a mystery or the millions of retired British nationals living in Europe? For Britain in order to reduce EU migration we have to make Britain a less attractive place.”
