THE Conservatives have retained a seat on Pendle Council following a by-election.
Polling in the Blacko and Higherford ward elected Noel McEvoy with 370 votes, more than twice as many as the other three candidates.
Michael Waddington, for UKIP, polled 86 votes, Robert Oliver, Labour, received 65 votes, and Darren Reynolds, Lib Dems, got 34 votes.
The turn-out for the by-election, bought about by the suspension of former councillor Shelagh Derwent for not attending meetings, was 38.25 per cent.
