MORE than 65,000 bulbs planted in the grounds of an Accrington church have exploded into a splash of spring colour.
A floral display of daffodils, crocus, alliums and cammassia can now be seen outside St James’ Church in the town centre, alongside newly-planted trees.
Council leader Miles Parkinson said: “The display of spring bulbs complement the recent improvements to the grounds of the church, which are an important part of the town centre.
“The grounds are now much more welcoming to visitors to the town centre and provide an opportunity to relax in a tranquil setting.”
He continued: “The whole of the borough is looking brighter with all the spring bulbs coming up in our parks and verges.”
