A LIB DEM town councillor has hit back after criticisms over attendances at meetings.
Last week, deputy chairman Coun Trevor Maxfield said the LibDems had missed more of the council’s monthly meetings than Labour since the last election in 2012.
But Coun Paul Browne said: “The deputy chairman is completely and utterly out of order for criticising the attendance of certain councillors.
“I would have been to all of the meetings but I had an accident and hurt my ankle.
“This is completely irresponsible and political. What about the Labour councillors who have missed meetings?”
According to the attendance figures, Coun Browne had attended all but two of the 22 meetings. Liberal Democrat councillors Simon Huggill and Vicky Rothwell had attended 14 and 15, Roy Davies 19 and John East 18.
Labour’s Brian Taylor had been to 17, Frank Connor and Dave Smith 18, Stephanie Brookfield 19, Tom Evans 20, Pete Hollings 21, Trevor Maxfield and Eileen Entwistle 22.
