CAMPAIGNERS have been urged to redouble their efforts after controversial plans for an anaerobic digestion plant resurfaced in Ramsbottom.
Bosses at Peel Environmental have confirmed they are making a second attempt to open a renewable power operation at Fletcher Bank Quarry. Initial proposals, set to be considered by planners in November, were withdrawn after council officers asked for clarification on a number of issues. More than 1,000 submissions protesting against the venture, which straddles the Ramsbottom and Rossendale border, were received by development control officials. But after Peel reconsidered their bid, which would see around 1.5million cubic tonnes of waste brought to the quarry, a second application has been made. An information day has been scheduled for next Tuesday at The Grant Arms, Market Place, Ramsbottom, from 4.30pm to 7.30pm. Ramsbottom Against The Waste Site was formed to oppose the scheme.
