PENDLE Council has teamed up with a local food production company to provide it with advice and support on issues of food safety and hygiene.
The Government’s Business, Innovation and Skills Department has approved the partnership between the council and Richard Wellock and Sons Ltd, a long-established food wholesaler based in Nelson.
The partnership is only the second of its type in Lancashire, and aims to reduce regulatory burdens on the company. Philip Mousdale, Pendle Council’s deputy chief executive, said: “We are very pleased that this Primary Authority partnership has been approved by the Government.
“This will mean closer working between the council and Wellocks, which is good news for the council, the company, and their customers who will be re-assured by Wellocks’ commitment to the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.”
