TWO Colne councillors have welcomed news that a popular footpath around Lake Burwain is to be improved. The work would be jointly undertaken by Pendle Council and the Canal and Rivers Trust. Vivary Bridge councillor David Clegg said: “Along with other members of Colne Area Committee, I’ve been calling for this path to be improved for some time. I recently met with the Canal and Rivers Trust and I’m delighted it has agreed to contribute towards the scheme.” The cost of the £3,500 scheme will be spilt 50/50 between each organisation. Coun Joe Cooney said: “This is a great example of two organisations working together to get much-needed work completed.”
