A HEALTH regulator which revealed several failings within the emergency department at Royal Blackburn Hospital is finally heading in the right direction, according to MPs.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has been monitoring improvements at East Lancashire Hosptials NHS Trust since July, when inspectors raised several serious concerns about the A&E ward.
The Commons Health Committee said there had been several years of ‘superficial’ inspections by the CQC, but it was now taking a tougher approach.
