PLANS for a new supermarket in Darwen are continuing, developers said.

As reported in the Lancashire Telegraph last year, Lucite International in Duckworth Street wants to sell part of its land for the supermarket development to fund a new research and development facility.

Manchester-based Red Partnerships is managing the project, which was the subject of a public consultation last year. Negotiations with supermarket chains are still ongoing, bosses said.

Managing director Damian Flood said: “The project is still moving forward and I hope we will have some significant news later this month or in February.”
