A HOUSEHOLDER took a tumble drier outside when it started smoking.
Two fire engines were called to Garnett Street, Barrowford at 5.40pm on Sunday.
The occupier, an ex-retained firefighter, noticed a smell of burning coming from the dryer and turned it off before seeing flames coming out of the front and smoke filling the kitchen. All three smoke alarms went off.
Fire crews are advising that everybody check their smoke alarms regularly or call 0800 169 1125 to book a free home fire safety check.
