PEOPLE will be given the chance to ‘scope out’ Airedale Hospital’s new endoscopy unit this weekend.
Staff will offer a tour of the unit on Saturday, between 10am and 4pm, while offering advice about bowel cancer screening, Crohn’s disease and general health and wellbeing.
Children will also get to dress up in gowns and masks.
The new £2.4million unit opened to its first patients in July but this will be the first time the general public can see behind the scenes. It offers better facilities for patients, including greater privacy, and an extra procedure room so that more people can be treated in the future.
Chief executive Bridget Fletcher said: “We really hope that lots of people come along to the event, including families and children. Everything is really interactive and it’s a fantastic opportunity for people to come and find out more about the unit while they’re relaxed and not worried – as many people are when they come in for a procedure.”
