THE independent investigator to look into the events leading up to the suspension of Lancashire County Council chief executive Phil Halsall has been appointed.
The unnamed senior barrister was chosen by the authority’s employment committee yesterday chaired by Labour leader Jenny Mein.
Mr Halsall was suspended last month after it was alleged that favouritism was shown towards BT in the bidding process for the council’s £5million fleet maintenance service contract.
Yesterday’s private meeting appointed the QT as the ‘Designated Independent Person’ to conduct the inquiry impartially.
Mr Halsall denies any misconduct and has vowed to fight for his job.
