REGARDING the teenager who stole from his parents to fund a cannabis habit (LT, March 28), I knew people who stole from their parents to buy clothes they wanted.

I know countless people who stole from their parents constantly to buy fags.

I know plenty of people who have stolen from their parents to go out for a weekend.

The breakdown of trust between parents and children is always tragic, but it has happened since time immemorial, regardless of drugs being involved.

If we legalised cannabis, then kids would find it much harder to get hold of.

Under the current comp-lete prohibition, giving criminals responsibility over supply is madness for our kids’ safety. It’s hugely irresponsible of us.
