I read a letter the other day in the LT from a correspondent who seemed to think that it was legal to park with two wheels on the pavement.
Just because our less-than-effective parking wardens haven’t prosecuted the selfish people who do this, does not make it legal.
If the writer would care to read rule 244 in the Highway Code, they will see that it is not allowed “unless signs permit it.
Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs”.
I suggest that the parking wardens start enforcing this rule more and stop this and also the growing number of motorists who park wholly on the pavement.
G Booth, Clitheroe.
