IN reply to Mr T Gerrard (LT, September 18). If he wants to be taken seriously in his argument that Blackburn Rovers tickets are too expensive, he should avoid exaggeration.
I have been a season ticket holder for years. In my wildest dreams, I could not spend over £100 taking myself and a friend to a game.
Even if tickets were £40 each, which they are not, Mr Gerrard would still have to spend over £20 on food and drink.
All my family go to every home game. We eat before and take drinks and snacks with us.
I am not suggesting it is inexpensive, but perhaps if Mr Gerrard just bought tickets and cut out extravagant extras he would halve the cost of his afternoon.
If people do not want to spend money on live football or sit outdoors watching games live they should not do a disservice to Blackburn Rovers by overhyping the cost of watching the team live, nor should they defend pubs and bars who are acting illegally by showing foreign TV channels.
I believe attendances are down due to other factors aside of ticket prices, but even so Rovers do OK.
By the time Mr Gerrard has paid for the pub, the business, the TV and TV licence, Sky TV and the electric to have the TV switched on' and his ridiculous amount of tax, his £100 begins to sound a bargain.
