I HAVE just read "hospital journey time map" and comments made by MP Jack Straw.

It's hard to believe that such rubbish can be uttered by someone who should know better.

I've already made my views clear in the consultation which took place earlier this year.

I do not for one minute believe that my comments or wishes as well as many more, will be considered.

I have made the journey to Royal Blackburn and it took me a lot longer than time stated by Mr Straw and I drive.

What about those who don't drive, about the elderly and infirm, on low incomes, not to mention the very dangerous situations which will arise for those whose time can make the difference between life and death?

Seeing the Royal Blackburn, it was very obvious that millions of pounds have been spent on it. It's state of the art, but very little consolation to those who die trying to get there.

Let commonsense prevail and let us have an A&E for the people on this side of Pendle.

MRS HELEN STANLEY, Swindenhall Road, Nelson.
