In reply to David Green (LT, May 5), AV presupposes that choices 2, 3, 4, 5 are all acceptable to me. Not so.

If I vote for a candidate, he or she is the one I wish to represent me in Parliament.

None of the others may well be suitable.

AV is what it always has been – a device for the Liberal Party to get seats by the back door.

If they cannot win in a fair fight, they want the rules changed.

That, Mr Green, is not democracy, it is cheating.
