I am writing a biography of my late father, Professor E J H Corner (1906-1996), who was Emeritus Professor of Tropical Botany at Cambridge.
Soon after his arrival in Singapore in 1929, my father met William Birtwistle who was Director of Fisheries, Straits Settlements.
A lifelong friendship began. They remained in Singapore through the Japanese occupation.
I am searching for any information on the Birtwistles who I think were originally from Blackburn: did they have family and what was his birth and death date?
