Following the local elections, can I thank the electorate of Irwell Ward, Bacup, for allowing me to act as their representative since 1998.
It has at times been hard work, but extremely satisfying and I would like to think I have in a small way contributed to a change in fortunes for Rossendale.
I would like also to thank the officers and staff for their support and hard work over those years, without which my efforts would have been for nought.
Could I also congratulate my successor, Michelle Smith, and hope she finds as much satisfaction from the role as I did.
She may come to realise as a borough councillor, she can’t change the world, but please, don’t let that stop you trying.
