I see that our beloved, Labour-controlled council for Blackburn have, yet again, slipped in 'below the radar' with the removal of one of the few remaining benefits for frustrated motorists who actually manage to penetrate the labyrinthine network of the town's road system.

Streets such as Clayton Street (no more than a couple of minutes' stroll from the centre) which offered up to one free hour of parking will no longer (after May 9) offer that facility to those of us who only need a quick visit (to the bank, the library or to one or two shopping destinations) to satisfy their need to visit the town.

There was no big fanfare from Kate Hollern and her crew when that decision was made!

Also, I wonder just how many of the local populace are aware of the mooted changes to the road system.

I believe it is for early in June when streets such as King Street are to have their direction-of-flow reversed.

Those of us who still wish to attempt to visit the town from the South-West face a 'spiral-of-death' in our attempts to access the rapidly dwindling attractions of our town (will the Mall repeatedly play the Specials' 'Ghost Town' on the PA-system?).

It seems that our council are doing their level best to welcome any visitors to the town.
