Diabetes UK still has places available for this year’s Bupa Great North Run on Sunday, September 18.

Last year our team of runners raised thousands towards finding a cure for diabetes and supporting people with the condition. We want to achieve even more this year.

There are over 320,000 people with diabetes in the North West and nearly 100,000 who have Type 2 diabetes but don’t know it.

Diabetes is a serious condition and can lead to devastating complications such as kidney failure, heart disease, stroke and lower limb amputation.

It is also the largest cause of blindness in working age people.
