WHAT on earth is going on in Blackburn with the proposed sell-off/handover of the buses?

The interests of private companies is solely profit, not providing good services.

That's why agreements are made to ensure minimum standards are met.

I can remember the Tory line for deregulation. "Why should those that don't use these services subsidise those that do."

So we handed the popular/profitable routes over to private companies and then paid them to run the less popular routes.

Why can't we get someone in to run it better on our behalf?

I bet Blazefield are planning to do just that.

Don't be too surprised to find a former councillor slipping neatly into a position on the board of a private transport firm on the back of a deal like this.

CRAIG HALL, Church Street, Great Harwood.
