I read Jack Straw’s comments (LT, April 4) on how the EDL demo would hurt the EDL, not the cohesion of the community.
There is no cohesion of the community in Blackburn.
We do not have multi-cultural cohesion in Blackburn; we have many communities living parallel lives, but the paths hardly touch, never mind cross.
People of all cultures must see this and know it’s true.
If you listen to Jack’s rhetoric, everything is all sweetness and light in Blackburn and it should be held up as a shining example to the rest of the country.
Here we all are living happily in Jack’s utopia: no issues or problems whatsoever. This couldn’t be further from the truth.
I blame Jack Straw and the Labour council for splitting this town.
Together their actions have seemingly favoured one part of this great multi-cultural utopia and has alienated others.
Some may argue that this isn’t true, but this is perceived to be so.
