MY mother said that ‘a stitch in time saves nine’ and I've always found it to be true: a neglected problem just goes worse.

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council would do well to remember that adage because the neglected potholes in the Darwen area which resulted from the severe frosts last winter are growing in size, and will be a huge problem when the frosts come again.

Atlas Road was resurfaced but Sudell, with its increased traffic, Ellison Fold Terrace, Olive Lane and Anyon Street are like a tank- testing area and I for one will not hesitate to sue should my vehicle or my person suffer damage.

Get those holes fixed now – the problem will just get bigger!
