I went by bus to Blackburn Royal Infirmary for an appointment at the Endoscopy Unit, scheduled for 10.45am.
The plan was that I would have a camera pushed down my throat to check on a gastric ulcer that had burst two months earlier, forcing me to spend a couple of days in hospital.
At 10.30am, when I had arrived, I was informed the examination had been cancelled and, in fact, it had been cancelled since the end of January.
Unfortunately, no-one had seen fit to tell myself or my mother, who had accompanied me for procedural reasons. As the procedure requires a period of "nil by mouth," I had gone without breakfast and omitted my medication to avoid complications all for nothing.
Would someone at the Infirmary like to refund the bus fare from Clitheroe (Greenacre Street) to the bus stop right outside £3?
ANDREW JACKSON, Brownlow Street, Clitheroe.
