I WAS pleased to read (LET, January 9) that police are cracking down on those people who drive like maniacs through Reedley.

I work at the hospital and when I have finished work at 9pm cars have then passed me at high speeds on the wrong side of the road.

I do 30mph after I was caught speeding only doing 34mph and was offered a speed awareness course. It was a very informative course. It makes you realise that speed kills and after passing my driving test 34 years ago you get bad habits.

On the speed awareness course the instructor takes you out for one hour and points out your bad habits.

It did me a world of good and I think I am a better driver now.

It is a shame that I had to speed before I could go on the course.
