The High Court has ruled that US intelligence documents containing details of the alleged torture of a former UK resident can be released.

Ethiopian-born Binyam Mohamed, 31, spent four years in Guantanamo Bay. He claims British authorities colluded in his torture while in Morocco.

The UK government denies allegations of collusion and says it will appeal against the court’s judgement.

This guy is innocent (otherwise why would he have been released without charge?) and was tortured (not even the government are denying that), and therefore we have a right to know what our involvement was and what the heck we thought we were doing.

The government are, as ever, hiding between that ‘one size fits all’ excuse of ‘security’, just like they did with Damien Green, and once again there are enough paranoid idiots out there that will let them get away with it.

It disgusts me that British and US citizens genuinely believe that potential terrorists deserve to be tortured senseless on the basis that they may or may-not be guilty. It is a basic human right that every individual should be offered a chance to defend themselves via court.

I was under the impression that torture was outlawed under the Geneva Convention. As a country, we have to stand up to the Yanks’ threats and bullying tactics for once.

If it is true that this man has been tortured then those responsible must face the law.

Let the truth come out.
