LANCASHIRE is, without doubt, a place to be proud of for so many reasons.

Whether it be our dynamic businesses, excellent schools or beautiful scenery, there is lots to be celebrated.

And thanks to the Friends of Real Lancashire, who helped to found Lancashire Day in 1996, tomorrow is the day to mark all that is great about the county.

The Friends work to “promote the true identity of our county”, altered during the local government reorganisation of 1974.

With the help of the Flag Institute, they created and registered the Lancashire Flag, and paid for and erected boundary signs.

And in the 18 years since Lancashire Day came into being, the calendar of events and celebrations have gathered momentum.

Thousands of people will take part tomorrow, whether it be hoisting the flag, listening to proclamations by town criers or eating traditional Lancashire food.

It’s also a chance for the younger generation to learn more about county’s fantastic history and heritage, and hopefully inspire more people to visit and experience our famous hospitality for themselves.

And at 9pm, everyone can join in the official loyal toast to The Queen, Duke of Lancaster.
