In reply to A Better Blackburn about no proper control of care home industry (Letters LT Feb 22), I found your letter derogatory as you should not tar all care homes with the same brush.

This letter does not do anything for the morale of staff who work in the good homes and have a very difficult job to do.

A relative of mine is in a very good care home. She is happy, well-fed, is always clean and tidy and is taken out to shows and shopping and has been taken on a week’s holiday.

The staff do all they can to motivate the residents i.e. quizzes, dominoes and music suitable for their era.

Yes, I have seen for myself some bad care homes in Blackburn that need weeding out. Instead of calling all care homes I think you should visit a few then you will get a better picture.

At the end of the day it is up to relatives to remove their family members from a care home they are not happy with.
