I READ with interest that style guru Wayne Hemingway is sharing his business ideas to improve Blackburn’s ‘brand (LT, September 26).

I have sent many letters to the Lancashire Telegraph over the past 30 years about how Blackburn needs to revitalise its night life with hotels, bars, and more eateries like restaurants and fast-food outlets. Blackburn must compete with the likes of Preston, Burnley and Bolton.

We have a nice, beautiful shopping mall – I campaigned for 15 years for Lord Square to be redeveloped.

But we need to attract more big-name stores as there are dozen or so empty shop units inside the Mall. We now will have a brand new 21st century bus station and a hotel on the Boulevard by 2015.

We need more flats for students in Blackburn town centre and that could boost the night-life economy of Blackburn.
