Despite the political mudslinging, perhaps the Tories should remember that they are taking £20billion out of the NHS.

There have been too many political appointments on both sides. Firstly they all should remember it is our NHS and we want it. It is not, nor ever has been, safe in Tory hands despite their protestations.

I don't believe doctors are the best people to manage the service either. We need a mixture of both experiences.

I read the other day the Royal Blackburn Hospital had been awarded a vote of confidence as a hospital of excellence for its cardiac treatment. Is this a case of mixed messages, or what? Whatever it is, it needs sorting.

Could I also suggest zero-hour contracts need outlawing. It is no better than having people queueing up outside the doors hoping for a day’s work, like they did just after the war.

We cannot get the best people to do the job on this type of insecure employment.

There are big problems and I hope they pick the right people to get the NHS back on track.
