INTERESTING that presenting Big Brother has made AJ Odudu a household name but her broad Blackburn accent has come in for criticism (LT, Weekend, July 13).
Just ignore this stuff, AJ. It is the last resort of lazy southerners who can’t find anything else to pull you up on.
I’ve had this throughout my career and unfortunately it is difficult (and nor would I have the time or inclination) to challenge it under the discrimination banner.
Simply remind these individuals that celebrating diversity also requires the acceptance of regional accents and avoiding puerile comments about the way people speak.
