IN response to your story ‘Fly-tippers 'endanger lives of children' near Blackburn school’ (LT, June 5) – cut back on frontline services, ie less street litter cleaning, clearing up back streets only once a year down from four times a year, charging for bulky waste and less grass cutting which is not helping the matter in Blackburn and Darwen.
Many authorities in the North West and Yorkshire and Humber did not cut back on frontline services like street sweeping and start charging for bulky waste.
Kirklees Council is turning off street lights from midnight to 5am to save money. Kirklees Council did not make any cutback on frontline services.
Blackburn Council will waste taxpayers’ money to catch the culprits who are fly tipping and all the court cost will borne by council taxpayers.
There are ways to save money – cut back on town hall staff and the number of councillors and their perks. Turn off street lights from midnight to 5am in some areas.
Stop spending council tax payers’ money on that fun pool, bus station and other projects. These should be left with private investors.
