THE conversion of Carnforth's locked-up police station into two houses was on the agenda at Carnforth Town Council last night (Wednesday, March 21).
The Grosvenor Road building sold for £250,000 at auction in December 2017 after being closed for good earlier in the year. Offers around £175,000 had been invited for the Lancashire Police property with its front counter, offices and staff kitchen.
Weeton-based developer John Noye is seeking approval to create a pair of semi-detached, three-bedroom dwellings with a new bay window and single-storey extension.
Carnforth town councillors were also to consider plans for a former estate agents at Station Buildings, Warton Road. Neil Palamountain of Morecambe is proposing a ground-floor office with two "modern and appealing" flats above.
The century-old, end-terrace property has been "difficult to re-let", according to documents, being slightly away from the high street shops.
