POLICE are hunting a vandal who daubed Rishton railway station with racist graffiti.
The unknown culprit is believed to have struck in the early hours of September 22 when offensive graffiti, aimed at the Asian community, was sprayed onto the shelter of the Blackburn-bound platform.
Investigative work so far has been unable to trace the offender and officers are hoping someone in the local community will be able to help.
PC Dave Hewetson, investigating for British Transport Police, said: “The graffiti was highly offensive and although it was quickly cleaned off by station staff we need to find whoever is responsible.
“We believe the words were sprayed onto the shelter during the early hours of the morning and although there are very few people around at that time I am convinced that someone knows who did this.
“I would ask anyone with information to contact BTP on 0800 405040 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
