TRIBUTES have been paid to a father and 'lovely lad' who died after being shot in the chest.
Friends have taken to social media to pay their respects to 32-year-old Lee Holt, after his death on Wednesday.
Mr Holt from Accrington, who worked painting road markings for a local road surfacing firm, was believed to have a young daughter.
Dozens of friends took to Facebook to express their condolences to his family and friends.
Mark Hartley said: "My deepest thoughts go out to Lee Holt the father who died last night.
"May your soul rest in peace, Amen."
Sarah Mcnally said: "So sad. Lee was such a lovely lad. Thoughts are with the families."
Martyn Cavna posted: "When I heard there was a shooting in Accrington never in a million years would I have thought it was an old pal of mine.
"RIP Lee Holt thoughts are with your family??"
Rachel Louise Hargreaves said: "So sad and sorry to the family."
Mandy Labrador said: "RIP to this poor man.
"Surely the gun should’ have been adequately secure and only accessed by the licensee."
Shane Murray, writing on Facebook, said: "What an absolute shame, totally shocked.
"How in gods name does a school argument end up with someone losing their life.
"RIP my mate Lee Holt thoughts and prayers for the family at this sad time."
Andrea Adamson said: "Such a sad sad, story not only is a poor man dead a child has lost her dad and a mother had to see her son's life ruined all because they think it’s hard to have guns.
"Why were they not locked in a secure cabinet and why was a child allowed easy access to the gun.
"This is terrible terrible news."
On the Lancashire Telegraph website 'badfinger72' said: "It seems to me today we cannot resolve simple matters without resorting to shooting someone instead of open dialogue.
"The reality of the fact is, a daughter has lost her father.
"Deepest condolences to the family."
