AN Oswaldtwistle councillor has paid tribute to a ‘credit to the community’ as he looks set to retire.
The Lancashire Telegraph reported yesterday how Richard Hilliard, 76, was looking to retire and sell up after seven years at Tricky’s pub in Oswaldtwistle.
Cllr Stewart Eaves, who represents the St Andrews ward on Hyndburn Council, wished Mr Hilliard well after 30 years in the pub trade.
Cllr Eaves said: “Tricky’s is one of the main social hubs in the town.
“I certainly hope that he can sell it on and keep it going as an important venue.
“Mr Hilliard has been an absolute credit and has turned Tricky’s into a lively pub.”
The pub in Thwaites Road is up for £250,000 with Mortimers Estate Agents.
It has had several viewings since going on the market but has yet to receive an acceptable offer.
