Eight letters of objection were sent to the authority in opposition to the plans which raised issues such as traffic, safety and congestion.

Cllr Judith Addison, who represents the area and sits on on the planning committee, has said people have come to her with worries about the plans.

She said: “People have had a lot of concerns about traffic and congestion its bad enough in that area as it is, before you account for the new homes.”

The proposal had been reduced from the original submission of 28 homes.

The applicant, Miss C Cronshaw, has twice applied to the council to develop the land.

She applied for 17 homes to be built in 2010 and then 14 in 2011 but these were rejected.
