Blackburn teenagers to face Hyndburn farmer whose chicks they killed

SO CRUEL Some of the 100 chicks which were battered to death at Knuzden Brook poultry farm in Knuzden SO CRUEL Some of the 100 chicks which were battered to death at Knuzden Brook poultry farm in Knuzden

YOUTHS who killed more than 100 chicks by hitting them with bricks and rocks have been handed cautions.

The four teenagers, who at the time of the offence were branded “sick and inhumane” by detectives, were given reprimands for the attack, which took place at Knuzden Brook Poultry Farm in Haslingden Old Road.

In the early evening of April 12, the gang forced their way into two pens at the family run farm before attacking the three-day old birds with masonry.

They then escaped over fields and towards the Shadsworth estate after being disturbed by the farm manager.

A 17-year-old boy involved was handed a final warning by Lancashire police.

Three other boys, aged 17, 16 and 15, were given police reprimands and warned about their future conduct.

All those involved were from Blackburn.

Police added that as part of their boys’ punishment, they were forced to face those affected by their actions.

A spokesman said: “Those involved were required to take part in a restorative justice meeting with their parents, the RSPCA and the farmers.”

Reprimands and final warnings are used for youngsters between the ages of ten and 18.

Anyone who offends after a final warning will be dealt with by the courts Prior to the incident, the farm had been subject to several break-ins, with washing equipment stolen on one occasion.

Knuzden Brook Poultry rears around 125,000 chickens at any one time.

They are kept for eight weeks in large pens at a constant 30C before being sold on to meat suppliers.

Big deal. A " final warning " ? So the nutter will go to court... so what... yet another slap on the wrist, eh ?. This bunch of looneytunes need to have THEIR brains bashed out with bits of masonary. What is the world coming to ? They are to face the farmer, are they. Perhaps the farmer should have said no to that meeting, I certainly would not go go anywhere near mental scum like these kids. They should be locked in a small room with the decaying corpses of these creatures until they change their ways. Meanwhile, I predict thousands will be spent to attempt their rehabilitaion.... a trip on a Safari perhaps... , foreign holidays... all paid by the taxpayer. Don't you just know they are not going to amount to much in life. Anyway, maybe after the next few crimes, they will hopefully be murdered in prison !

It would appear that the Youth Justice Team have been involved and dished out their brand of punishment.
One has been given a final warning and then he may go to court he he re offends. This tells me he has been in trouble before. How many times?
The justice system has collapsed due to this softly softly approach.
If I had been the farmer I certainly wouldn't wish to meet the scumbags except with a big stick.
No matter what we are told the crime rate is on the increase and it is small wonder when criminals are not punished.

Wetwangman!!

Dear me.. Murder for the boys... Glad you wasn't dishing out the justice when I squashed that slug (by accident)

Maybe you should think about your posts a little more. Go and have a nice KFC to settle your anger.

PS I doubt a Safari trip would be ideal, they do have previous with animals remember!

Unless however you are talking about one of the many organised safari shooting trips endorsed by governments and rich people alike!

if so .... Thats pretty sick.

The best punishment for them is the birch. The Manx had it in use for over 120 years and it was the perfect deterrent to stop youths from misbehaving, (the proof being in all that time only one person went back for seconds.) That is of course until the stupid do-good brigade convinced the idiots in Europe to ban it. I am against violence but I'm afraid that sometimes that is the only answer and if a good whack on the backside is a cure all well and good. I would like the vote to go to the country, let the people decide because I am sure the majority are sick and fed up with these unruly youths of to-day.

1st warning: A tut
2nd warning: 2 tuts
3rd and final warning *not for the faint of heart* A look of disapproval

Clearly, these work well. Just Google Blackburn and youths and you will see that.
