AN EMOTIONAL final farewell was bade to a Great Harwood doctor yesterday following his sudden and as yet unexplained death.
Dr Mamdouh Mohamed Ahmed collapsed at his home in Park Lane on Monday, March 16.
The father-of-two was 63, and is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patricia, and their children, Ophelia and Sherif.
A Muslim funeral was held at the Segar Street Mosque on Tuesday, where Dr Ahmed’s body was prepared for burial and prayers were said, ahead of a non-religious service held at Accrington Crematorium at 11am yesterday.
A postmortem examination was carried out following Dr Ahmed’s sudden death, with the family told they face a four-to-six-week wait to find out the cause.
