A THIEF with expensive tastes struck on successive days at a Clayton-le-Moors store.

Blackburn magistrates heard, on his first visit to the Co-op on Pickup Street, Gareth Thomas stole six bottles of champagne and a joint of lamb together worth £110.

And when he returned the following day, Thomas stole three packs of rump steaks.

Thomas, 30, of the Shires, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to two charges of theft, admitted the offences put him in breach of a conditional discharge also imposed for theft and asked for two offences of theft to be taken into consideration. He was bailed for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
