A MAN had part of his ear bitten off in a fight at a pub.

The attack happened during a family fun day, at the Cross Guns pub, in Church Street, Church, at around 8.30pm on Sunday.

Police said an argument broke out between the 24-year-old victim and another drinker, which then escalated into a fight.

He needed plastic surgery to try to repair his left ear yesterday.

Detectives are appealing for anybody who may have seen the incident to come forward. The attacker is white, of heavy build and around 5ft 7ins tall.

He is around 35 years old, had a shaved head, and was wearing blue jeans and a red checked shirt.

Det Sgt Mark Haworth-Oates said: “It was a really nasty assault. We have taken lots of statements, and spoken to a number of people, but we would like statements from the people present in the pub and who saw the assault.

“There would have been a lot of people who saw what went on, and who know the individuals concerned. I would encourage anybody with information to come forward because of the severity of the assault and give us an account of what they saw.”

Anybody with information is asked to call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
