Holland’s Pies mascot takes charity tour of UK

A TEAM including two posties and an electrician have launched a 600-mile tandem challenge – and will be followed by the Holland’s Pies mascot.

They aim to reach Edinburgh, Belfast, Dublin, Cardiff and London in six days, raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Their journey begins on Sunday when they head for Edinburgh.

Having already raised around £2,300, postmen James Capstick, 38, and Garreth Ellidge, 27, along with electrician David Harries, 29, and Peter Baker, 28, hope to hit their £4,000 target.

They will be followed by two support drivers, Gareth’s father David and fellow postman Andy Brown, who is also Stan The Pie Man for the Baxenden-based firm.

He will be donning his outfit to attract attention and hopefully extra sponsorship.

The 2012 Olympics gave the team the idea of a route to cover all the UK’s major cities, with the team finishing their challenge at the Olympic Stadium in London on March 31.

All live and work in the Burnley area.

Gareth Ellidge said: “We will be able to have a good laugh and keep each other’s spirits up. We will need to after five or six days!”

Mr Brown said: “We want to help the children and make as many wishes come true as we can.”

Andy's partner’s profession as a nurse gave the team inspiration for their chosen charity.

The team has previously cycled to Arsenal's football ground for a Premier League match with Burnley for charity.
