A MAN who found himself short of cash at the end of a night out drove home instead of taking a taxi as planned.
Blackburn magistrates heard Jordan Elwood stalled at traffic lights when there was a police car behind him.
Elwood, 29, of Whittlewood Drive, Accrington, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was fined £207 with £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 18 months.
Mike Church-Taylor, prosecuting, said police followed Elwood after he had stalled and described his driving as erratic. When he was stopped they said he was clearly drunk.
Gareth Price, defending, said the plan had been to get a taxi home but his client had spent more than he planned.
“He made the foolish decision to drive home,” said Mr Price.
