CONTROVERSIAL plans to build six residential care and disability supported units have been withdrawn.
A total of 10 objections from residents had been submitted against the plans for the vacant land for Back Owen Street in Accrington.
The proposal by Peter Hitching Architects was planned to go before the Hyndburn planning committee at a meeting earlier this month, but was withdrawn prior to the meeting.
The reason for the withdrawal has not been confirmed.
The proposals had been recommended for approval by planning officers who stated there were issues with the access to the site via narrow back alleys.
The highway bosses at Lancashire County Council had objected to the application on highway safety grounds.
The withdrawal of the application was to the joy of protestors who had raised a number of concerns over the plans.
Objecting to the plans, Mrs Nightingale, resident of Owen Street for 17 years, raised a number of concerns.
She said in a letter: "As a mother of two young boys I worry for their future living on Owen Street as the increase of traffic onto this residential street could pose a real threat to their safety along with many other of the young children.
"Further concerns are additional noise pollution from vehicles travelling over the cobbles especially in the evening and late a night."
