Little Zachary Bland-Faina was looking forward to meeting his idol Mickey Mouse at Disneyland Paris after businessman and avid fundraiser Mickii Edwards raised money for the all expenses paid trip.

But the much needed family break could now be cancelled after insurance quotes to cover the four-year-old, who sufferers from cerebral palsy and the rare virus, Cytomegalovirus, which has left him deaf and partially sighted, have come it at £6,000.

Mr Edwards, who owns Mickii Edwards Weight Loss Academy in Oswaldtwistle is now appealing for donations to help cover the insurance costs.

The 40-year-old who won the Pride of Hyndburn Award for his fundraising at the Hyndburn Business Awards, said: "I want more than anything to help them and send them there and make sure he has a good and safe time.

"Zachary needs a break and he deserves the chance to go somewhere fantastic.

"I wanted to surprise them and do something nice at Christmas time when I told them. But I just got caught up in it and didn't think about the insurance costs being so high.

"I couldn't believe the insurance cost, I can't afford £6,000, nobody can.

"I'm trying to get in contact with charities and calling Disney to see if they can help."

Mr Edwards raised £1,000 by completing a charity run last November.

In December, he held a party and told Zachary from Oswaldtwistle and four-year-old Charlie Procter from Church, who has just been told he is in remission from cancer, he was sending them to Disneyland in front of 700 people at the Hope Centre.

Mr Edwards added £2,500 of his own money to send the two families on the holiday of lifetime.

But as he went to book the trip he was dealt the blow about the insurance costs.

Mr Edwards said the money for the tickets is in a trust and will cover the costs of the travel and a three day stay at the resort in Paris for the family-of-four.

Zachary's mum Laura Bland said she is heartbroken at the complications and is facing a battle against time to get the trip sorted.

She said the youngster set to undergo an operation to have a feeding tube inserted ahead of him stating in reception at White Ash Primary School, Oswaldtwistle in September.

Mr Edwards offered to send the family to Center Parcs instead, but the family do not want to disappoint Zachary after he had his heart set on Disney.

Miss Bland, 23, said: "I cannot believe what has happened.

"He's been made a promise and it needs to be kept.

"My little boy doesn't understand saying more money is needed for insurance, but we've shown him pictures and he's got excited.

"We want it to come to an end and get Zachary this trip.

"He can't go during the winter because of how cold it is and the effect it has on his chest.

"It's causing the family a lot of upset, I've got a three-year-old daughter as well.

"It's his dream to get to Disney and you don't see Mickie Mouse at Center Parcs."

Miss Bland said she has contacted 'The Make a Wish Foundation' to see if they could help the family.

However, she said because Zachary previously received a specially adapted wheelchair they are unable to help.

Mr Edwards urged anyone who could help him get the family to Disneyland Paris to contact him.

He said: "I just want to send that kid to Disney.

"If anyone has any ideas how we can make this happen please get in touch.

"It would mean so much to Zachary."

Charlie Procter and his family are also yet to go on their trip to Disneyland, but Mr Edwards said he is hoping to arrange for them to go soon, as the four-year-old does not have the same insurance costs.
