A MAN has been taken to hospital with a suspected broken pelvis following a crash between a motorbike and a car.

Police said the incident happened at the junction of Langford Street and Manchester Road, Accrington, at 5.45pm this evening.

The 35-year-old male motorcyclist is said to be in a serious but stable condition. The driver of the car is not thought to have been seriously injured.

Surrounding roads have been closed while the man receives treatment and accident investigation work is carried out. Police said traffic is particularly congested around the Rising Bridge Roundabout.

The motorcyclist was due to be airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital but the conditions were too poor for the helicopter to land.

Any witnesses are asked to call police on 101, quoting log reference LC-20170530-1101.
