A CHARITY worker in Accrington is planning to go ahead with his plans to shut three stores across the town due to ‘lack of footfall’.

Joe McMurrough, who owns the Hyndburn Project has nine stores across the area which invite people to refurbish furniture.

He is set to close two of his stores in Blackburn Road because of the lack of people in the store, which he says is contributed to by the moving of the bust stop.

Mr McMurrough said: “You just don’t get enough people over that side of town anymore.

“Especially since they moved the bus stops, people can’t just get off in convenient spots anymore.

“I don’t want to have to give the shops up, but because of the tough times I’m going to have to, it’s a shame.”

The father-of-three has also temporarily closed his stores in Dutton Street recently following a dispute with the council over painting murals on the windows.
