HYNDBURN MP Graham Jones has raised his concerns over ‘the continued lack of transport infrastructure’ serving West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and East Lancashire.
His early day motion in the House of Commons said there needed to be ‘significant’ investment in both road and rail infrastructure to ‘increase connectivity’ and decrease congestion.
It also said the M65 needs to be extended from Colne to East Leeds bypassing near Leeds Bradford Airport and connecting to the M62 and M1.
He is also calling on rail connections between Leeds Bradford Airport and Leeds to be updated, with updated links to the North East, to Burnley, Accrington and to Hellifield, with a possible connection to Glasgow.
The motion read: “These coterminous proposals would relieve overstretched roads and railways of congestion, while unlocking the potential for increased commercial connectivity between important northern centres.”
Mr Jones has called on the Government to consider and support the proposals.
