A GIRL has been injured after being struck by a taxi on a zebra crossing.
The incident happened at the crossing on Blackburn Road in the West End area of Oswaldtwistle.

Police said they attended at around 7.40am today along with the ambulance service.
They said that the girl has been struck by a silver Vauxhall Vectra cab while crossing the road and was breathing and conscious.
She was taken by ambulance to Royal Blackburn Hospital with suspected hip and head injuries.

The driver of the taxi remained at the scene after the accident and is helping police with their enquiries.
The road was closed for around 45 minutes as the casualty was attended to and for police enquiries to continue.
This caused rush hour traffic to back up significantly in both directions.
